Acer davidii ssp. grosseri 'Dawes Emerald Tiger' - Dawes Emerald

Description

A tremendous selection from Ohio’s Dawes Arboretum that showcases the best qualities of this underutilized Chinese species. The low branched 25’ trees showcase impeccable green and white striped stems that align themselves in an ascending fashion to comprise a dense, cone-shaped canopy. Stems support delicately lobed, emerald green leaves that remain attractive through the gardening season before shifting to pure yellow tones in autumn. The winter silhouette is thrilling to behold as the stems shimmer with the low light of the season. An excellent addition to the woodland garden where plants perform best in dappled shade and evenly moist, well-drained soils.
