Dr. Fuji was a Pokémon Researcher who devoted his life to bringing his daughter back to life after she passed away. His obsessive studies lead him to losing his wife and being killed by an experiment gone wrong. Dr. Fuji studies specialized in Cloning as a result of the death of his daughter.
