The Desert Battle Dress Uniform camouflage, or DBDU, is a U.S. arid-environment camouflage battle uniform that was used by the United States Armed Forces from the early 1980s to the early to mid-1990s (1976–1995), most notably during the Persian Gulf War. officially known as the Desert Camouflage Pattern, and also known colloquially as "coffee stain camouflage", was developed to replace the six-color desert camouflage "chocolate-chip camouflage" uniform, which was deemed unsuitable for most desert combat theaters.
